Swim & Beachwear

IMG_8305.heic

So different to todays modern alternative, without stretchy fabric the clever use of shirring, seersucker fabrics and even knitted fabrics were used. The styles were mainly one piece although the two piece bathing costume was worn by women in the 1930s the bikini was more generally thought to have been invented due to fabric rationing in 1946. A lot more demure the legs were cut lower and the waists were higher, with inner formed bra liners in the tops to give a formed shape to the bust line, there were pleats, tucks, modesty panels and little skirts across the front.

So if you want to add a vintage swim suit to your vintage clothing and accessory collection do have a look at ours.
