Original Vintage: Collectors Ensemble Maxi Panelled Skirt and Peplum Top by Ossie Clark

 

Dating from: early 1970s

 

Label: Ossie Clark for Radley Moss Crepe very collectable rare ensemble.

 

Ossie Clark and his textile designer wife Celia Birtwell created iconic looks of the late 1960s and 1970s. Ossie Clark worked at Alice Pollocks Quorum boutique and he was known for his ingenious cut panels and beautiful lines. In 1969 Alfred Radley became a partner in Quorum and Clark started designing for Radley.

The item is modelled on size 10 mannequin

 

Fabric: quality black moss crepe

Style: Both pieces are expertly cut, Ossie Clark was influenced by the lines of the 1940s putting his own style on them.

 

Features: the top has a shaped waist panel, and the bodice is expertly flat seamed into this and pleated into the v neck panel which has long spear point lapels the armholes are cut away, so the lapels sit on the bare arm. From the nipped in waistline falls a bias-cut circular peplum.

The long or maxi skirt is cut in four panels and skims over the hips falling in beautiful gentle folds at the hem.

 

Closure: Central metal zip and metal hook and eye.

 

Ideal to wear for: Red Carpet, Ball, Special Event
