KIGU started in 1873 in Prague when Joseph Kiaschek started business as a goldsmith. His passion was soon passed onto his son, Gustav, who continued the business and became a master goldsmith, creating the first gold compact. The name comes from the first two letters of the sons second and first name. Gustav in turn had three sons Charles, Paul and George. Charles was a New York based goldsmith, George moved to London and founded Kigu of London
Made of Engine turned brass
Style: A collectable novelty hinged powder compact
Features: An intricated engine turned design with a side catch, inside there is an oval mirror set in the lid signed with the words “Made in England Patented” The powder pan in lined in cream.
