Original Vintage: 1950s Dark Navy Ribbon Overlayed Cocktail Hat 
 
A very complicated hat to make, milliners net has been covered with fine layers of net, and the edge has been wired. A central square panel made with ¾ “(2cm) wide cotton navy ribbon overlaid that ends in a circle in the centre, which out of streams more navy cotton ribbon folded in half forming curled loops which then spill down one side. The side panels then have many, many layers of the ribbon and these run around the hat in a chevron pattern which pleat down on itself. 
 
These headpieces were originally designed to sit onto of a hair up do of curls and were often worn evening gowns bridal and wool and felt styles worn with coats and suits. It can be worn in different ways. Seam is the centre back

Nb the navy ribbon is cotton so the natural fibres have a slight fadded look in some light this is intentinial
