Original Vintage: Black Lizard Skin Leather Frame Handbag

 

Dating from: 1940s early 1950s

 

Label: Mapin & Webb Ltd. A British treasure founded in 1775 who make high end goods of the best quality and design.

 

Measurements:

Height 7” (17.5 cm)

Width 10 ½ “(26.5 cm)

Depth 2 ¼”(6 cm)

Strap Drop 7” (18 cm)

 

Made of: Rich brown lizard skin, lined in tan suede with an open pocket on one side and a metal zipped pocket that is lined in burgundy taffeta, and mirror, and lipstick pocket on the other.

 

Style: Classic Kelly Bag (named after Grace Kelly who often wore this style of handbag and later became the Patron of the Mapin & Web Edinburgh store)

 

Features: The metal frame is covered beautifully in lizard skin the top, the front and back of the bag are each covered in two panels of lizard skin and there is a 1” (2.5cm) finishing strip trim on the front and back of the bag.

 

Closure: Brass spring thumb clip at centre
