THE ROARING 1920s
The decade in which fashion entered the modern era, it was the decade in which women first abandoned restricted fashions of past years and began to wear more comfortable clothes.
There was an outfit for every occasion and every occupation and even for the time of the day.
House dresses were changed for visits out of the home, a smart simple day dress or blouse and jacket, each outfit was always accompanied by hat gloves and a small bag. Afternoon tea dresses and party dresses were then followed by evening wear these were sleeveless for younger women and often beaded and worn with bright bold jewellery and hair adornments, sequinned bags and evening gloves accompanied by dress jackets, fringed shawls or a fur.
